Shaping Quiet Things With Patience, One Layer At A Time.
We begin by looking for a long while. Before anything is drawn, a subject is turned over, set down and picked up again, until the part that matters starts to show on its own.
Then the work is built the way a painter builds a canvas: a stroke, a step back, another stroke laid over the first. Each pass is small, and each one answers the last.
Looking and layering are the two habits we keep. What is left at the end is quiet, and it was not hurried.
